SurePly® Premium Plywood Underlayment for Use Under Ceramic, Porcelain & Stone Tiles

May 18th, 2016

SurePly® plywood underlayment has been tested by the Tile Council of North America (TCNA) and has received an “Extra Heavy” classification per the ASTM standards for ceramic tile installations.  SurePly® plywood underlayment made from premium grade Birch and hardwood veneers that are finely sanded for a consistent, excellent working surface and produced with a cross-grain construction for extra strength.  SurePly® plywood underalyment is manufactured using state-of-the-art technology, and multiple quality inspections ensure that the veneers will not separate.  Each piece is guaranteed to have a tight, uniform core.

Traditionally, when planning on installing ceramic tile in your home, you would use a cement board such as Durock or a HardieBacker board.  Thin-set mortars can be troweled directly on top of the SurePly® plywood underlayment, just as you would a cement board because we use an exterior glue bond during the manufacturing process.  When compared to the cement boards, our SurePly® plywood underlayment is easier to use and is lighter in weight. SurePly® plywood underlayment is available in 4’ x 8’ and 4’ x 4’ sizes making it easy to select the right size Birch plywood underlayment panels for your particular jobsite.

Make sure to follow your ceramic, porcelain, or stone tile manufacturer’s installation instructions for their products.  Follow our installation instructions and full installation video at www.InstallSurePly.com to ensure proper installation of our SurePly® Birch Plywood Underlayment.
