Holiday Porch Decorating Made Easy with RevolutionPly® Plywood

Transforming your front porch or entryway for the holidays is simpler than you think! With a few supplies and some creativity, you can craft a festive display that welcomes guests in style. We used RevolutionPly® plywood, a premium alternative to lauan or meranti plywood, to bring this project to life.

Supplies You’ll Need:

• RevolutionPly® Plywood (18mm) – Superior lauan/meranti plywood alternative
• Tools:
  • Table saw or circular saw
  • Miter saw
  • Electric drill
• Finishing Materials:
  • Sanding block
  • Paint and brushes
  • Stain and rag or sponge brush
  • Clean rag (to remove excess stain)
  • Polyurethane and sponge brush
• Assembly Materials:
  • Adhesive stenciled letters
  • Wood glue
  • 5/8” wood screws
  • 1/2” finishing nails
  • Hammer or electric finish gun
  • Door or gate hinge
• Decorative Touches:
  • Holiday ribbons and bows

Step 1: Measure and Cut

Begin by cutting the RevolutionPly® plywood into your desired sizes:

• Holiday Sign: 5’ tall x 12” wide
• Presents:
  • Large: 24” tall x 14” wide
  • Medium: 15” tall x 12” wide
  • Small: 8” tall x 10” wide

Lightly sand all pieces to smooth out rough edges.

Step 2: Paint and Stain

• Holiday Sign:
  1. Paint the sign red, applying two coats for even coverage.
  2. Once dry, lightly sand and apply a medium stain. Wipe it off immediately to achieve a weathered, rustic look.
  3. Add white stenciled letters for a festive touch.
  4. Finish with a coat of polyurethane for weather protection.

Attach a thin 6” x 2” strip of wood (painted and sealed) to the back of the sign using a hinge. This allows the sign to stand at a slight angle.

• Presents:
  1. Paint the presents in festive colors—red, green, and white.
  2. Follow the same staining and polyurethane process as for the sign.
  3. Attach thin strips of wood with hinges to the back of each present, so they can stand upright.
  4. Decorate with holiday bows for the perfect finishing touch.

Step 3: Assemble and Display

Arrange the holiday sign and presents on your porch for a cohesive and cheerful look.
