Multi-functional Barn Sytle Door – Part II

October 6th, 2016

In continuation of our project, wood filler is applied to the staple holes.  After it dries, the areas are sanded to obtain a professional appearance.  We then painted the trim pieces white, but you can choose any color you like.  Chalkboard paint was applied to the bottom half of the door.

Once all paint was completely dry, a simple metal handle was added to the front and a latch installed on the back or inside of the door.  We installed the hardware along the top of the doorway and the door was hung on a metal rail slide that can be purchased at your local home improvement store.

See the pictures below of the final stages of this project and of the finished multi-functional door.  This style of door has become very popular and adds character to any home.
