Crafting a Spring Welcome Sign

Spring is the perfect season to refresh your home decor, and a decorative sign is a charming way to showcase the season’s vibrancy indoors. Whether it’s to brighten up an entryway or to add a splash of color to a mantel, this project is both fun and rewarding.

For our Spring Welcome Sign, we are using RevBead® Reversible Plywood Beadboard, along with the following materials:

• Jigsaw or table saw
• Small nails
• Hammer
• Twine
• Craft paints
• Paint brushes
• Wood glue or craft glue

Getting Started

1. Cutting the RevBead®: We cut the RevBead® to a size of 20” x 15”. After cutting, we lightly sanded the edges to ensure a smooth finish.
2. Painting the Base: A coat of light gray paint was applied to the RevBead®. This base coat sets a neutral backdrop, allowing the spring-themed decorations to pop.

Once the base coat is dry, the sign will be ready for the next stage of decoration.

Decorating Your Spring Welcome Sign

Continuing our spring sign project, it’s time to add some delightful decorations.

We started by painting the word “welcome” in white craft paint across the top of the light gray RevBead® sign. To capture the vibrant spirit of spring, each letter in “spring” is painted a different color. For a playful touch, we created a flag-like design with the letters draped across the lower half of the sign.

Here’s how we added dimension and creativity:

1. Creating Flag Shapes: Using scrap pieces of RevolutionPly® or RevBead®, we cut out flag shapes for every other letter.
2. Painting the Flags: Both the wooden flag shapes and the traced flag shapes on the sign were painted to enhance the three-dimensional effect.

Finalizing Your Spring Welcome Sign

With the base design in place, it’s time to complete your spring sign by adding some finishing touches.

1. Attaching the Wooden Flags: Using craft glue, we attached the painted wooden flags to the sign. Each flag, painted in different pastel colors, featured white-painted letters spelling “spring”. Alternatively, you can use peel-and-stick letters for convenience.
2. Adding the Twine: To create the illusion that the flags are hanging, we attached twine using craft glue. This addition enhances the three-dimensional look of the sign.
