Beadboard is Back and More Popular than Ever

Part 1:   Beadboard as a wall paneling or wainscoting

RevBead™ Reversible Plywood Beadboard Wainscoting

Installing beadboard is an easy and economical way to update your walls for a fresh new look.  It can be painted or stained depending on the interior look of your home.  Looking for ideas?  Look no further, we scratched the surface of wall paneling and wainscoting possibilities in the list below.

1)      Cover the sheetrock on your staircase.  If your home is like most, the staircase is a high traffic area that takes a lot of abuse.  The sheetrock walls get scuffed and dinged making the walls look dingy.  Beadboard is a great option because it can be easily cleaned making this high traffic area visually appealing.

2)      Cover the sheetrock walls around your kitchen island.  If your kitchen island has bar or counter stools, this portion of the island will take a beating from all the dangling feet!  If you have ever tried keeping all the scuff marks off the walls then you know this is a never ending battle.  Beadboard can be installed directly over the sheetrock and then finished in an easy to clean paint or stain.

3)      Are you going for the coastal or cottage look?  Beadboard is the solution!  You can line the top of the beadboard with a ledge shelf for decorations to compliment your coastal or cottage inspired décor.

4)      Looking for a place in your laundry, mudroom or even your garage to consolidate the clutter?  Construct beadboard cubbies with coat hooks at the top.  Instantly you have a place for shoes, coats and backpacks for the kids when they get home from school.  Also makes a great place to keep Fido’s leash.

5)      Want to try a new look in your kitchen but a tile backsplash is not in your budget?  Try a beadboard backsplash.  Apply a few coats of kitchen and bathroom paint and voila!  Instant, budget friendly kitchen upgrade!

6)      Beadboard risers on your stairs.  Looking to get rid of that dirty, stained, and worn out carpet on your stairs?  Replace your treads with the hardwood of your choice then construct the risers out of beadboard.  The contrast between the treads and the risers will make you look twice!
