Fun & Easy Labor Day Craft – Part II

Since last week, we have completed our unique version of the American flag in celebration of Labor Day. We used a drill to make small holes on the top of each side of the wooden panels, so that we could later attach some twine for hanging. Painting tape was applied to mark off the spaces for painting. Using red and blue paint purchased at the craft store, the background and stripes were painted, allowing drying time between colors. Rather than paint the stars freehand, we purchased small wooden stars from the craft store and painted them white. We then attached them with a little glue.
Once the paint and glue were dry, the panels were lightly sanded to give them a more weathered look. Twine was then strung through the holes with a small space in between to make a swag banner. The panels can also be strung vertically and displayed that way as well. There are a number of different ways this project can be completed using different designs, colors, and hanging techniques.
