Patriotic Clip Frame – Part I

June 22nd, 2018

In celebration of the July 4th holiday, we are constructing a patriotic clip frame using 1/2″ blondewood plywood.

Supply list:

  • 1/2” blondewood
  • Hand held saw or table saw
  • Block sander
  • Masking tape
  • Paint
  • Paint brushes
  • Twine
  • Decorative upholstery tacks
  • Small clothes pins
  • Cricut or stencil patterns
  • Wall hanging supplies

To begin this project, the blondewood was carefully measured and cut to the desired size of 17” x 27”.  A fine grit block sander was used to lightly sand the edges of the cuts to remove any splinters and to provide a smooth surface for paint.  We chose red, white and blue paint in honor of the American flag in celebration of Independence Day.  Masking tape was used to section off the areas for the different colors of paint, and two coats of each color were applied to the frame board.

See the pictures below of progress on this project, and check back to see how we finish our patriotic clip frame.
