Memorial Day 2017

May 25th, 2017

Memorial Day is a federal holiday celebrated each year on the last Monday in May to honor the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.  It originated as Decoration Day after the Civil War as a time for the nation to decorate the graves of the war dead with flowers.

Memorial Day became a federal holiday in 1971.  Many Americans observe this day by visiting cemeteries or memorials and placing flowers or American flags on graves.  It is also a time many families reunite in remembrance, while others attend local parades honoring fallen service members.

The Patriot Timber Products family remembers and honors all those who have given their lives in preservation of our freedom.  We wish everyone a safe Memorial Day holiday.
