Go Green with Patriot Timber Products

All of our wood products are sourced with the goal of promoting environmentally sustainable forestry management practices. All the hardwoods in our plywood panels come from plantations and sustainable sources. Our plywood panels contain no tropical hardwoods or species from endangered forests.

For example, most Lauan (Luan / Meranti) plywood in the market today originates from tropical hardwood forests that have not been managed for long term sustainability. These tropical forests are situated along the Equator and have declined dramatically over the past 30 years due to poor forest management.

Patriot Timber Products, Inc. places the highest priority on promoting long-term, sustainable forestry management, including:

• Operating with sensitivity to forest ecosystems and the lives and cultures of the people living in such regions.
• Sourcing from suppliers with a known commitment to responsible forestry.
• Seeking to create value for new and secondary species, thereby maintaining the diversity of the ecosystem.

We support organizations such as The Global Forest & Trade Network, WWF’s leading initiative to eliminate illegal logging and driving improvements in forestry management. GFTN links more than 300 companies, communities, NGOs, and entrepreneurs in over 30 countries around the world, with the goal of expanding the market for environmentally responsible forest products.

Patriot Timber Products requires suppliers to provide documentation in compliance with both international and their own country’s environmental management standards.  We have established regular monitoring timetables for suppliers to ensure satisfactory environmental performance.

Patriot Timber Products also maintains FSC® CoC Certification through the Rainforest Alliance.  We uphold compliance with the regulations of the Lacey Act in order to ensure the wood we import is sourced, produced and traded in an environmentally responsible and legal manner.
